Andrew Gurza

Keynote:

How sex and Disability Really Feels

This keynote presentation hosted by Andrew Gurza will explore sex and disability, but will unpack the question "How does sex and disability really feel?"  If we talk about sex and disability at all, we only ever consider "how do you have sex?" or "can you have sex?"  This presentation will delve into the emotions around sex and disability for the disabled person.  Using anecdotes, honesty and a little bit of humor, Andrew will help participants to understand and deconstruct their own ableism around sex and disability, while simultaneously reminding us that disabled people are hot.

Workshop:

Understanding Ableism

This workshop is designed to help participants understand what ableism looks like and feels like. Using real world examples Andrew Gurza will explore the nuances of ableism; from every day to in the bedroom and how that makes people feel.  Andrew will give participants the tools to be anti-ableist in sex positive spaces and beyond.

At the end of this session, participants will:

  1. Gain a greater understanding of ableism

  2. Feel comfortable confronting their own ableism

  3. Have the tools to call ableism out/in if they need to.
