Sex Down South | Southwest Lovefest

Sex Down South collaborated with Southwest Lovefest for a day-long conference in Tuscon, AZ for the first time this year.

Expanding our reach into less diverse communities assures that traditionally marginalized folks in the sexuality industry have a voice, a stomping ground and a place to frolic, freely. We had great success with Sex in the Middle in Kansas City, MO before the pandemic, and now we're back to finish what we started. World domination through the mission of liberation, sexual awareness and education.

Tucson, cradled in the Sonoran Desert, is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in North America. The mountains provide a postcard-esque backdrop to a bustling downtown and centuries-old indigenous communities still visible in petroglyphs throughout the region. The city is a beautiful melange of ancient and urban. Sex by Southwest attendees, some local and others from neighboring states, gathered on February 25th at Annabelle Studio for a full day of workshops, vendors, yoga, mediation, resting, tarot readings and fellowshipping. To learn about sexuality through this local region's gaze hold's its own weight in gold. Everyone left with something to take back to their own communities. KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Midori is a renowned educator and writer on sexuality. Dubbed “the supernova of kink” by Dan Savage, she emerged from the Sex Positive Movement in San Francisco in the early 1990s, soon becoming a much sought after international presenter on sexuality, personal fulfillment, and kinky adventures.

Her reputation as an authority and leading expert on alternative pleasures stem not only from her unique and entertaining process of teaching concrete skills but from her ability to deconstruct and distill complex matters of desire into surprisingly accessible lessons with eloquence and humanity. She’s known for tackling challenging topics with fresh and relevant insights. She calls this her “head-heart-hands” method to create a space where people are allowed individual self-exploration. Fundamentally she is motivated by helping people to create authentic and intimate relationships while emphasizing self-actualization, shame reduction, acceptance, and justice.

Tools for Smoothing the Transition into ENM & Polyamory

This workshop is for folks seeking to explore polyamory or another form of ethical non-monogamy (ENM) in a thoughtful and intentional way. Like with anything that is undertaught or misunderstood, there is a lot that can fall through the cracks when starting out in the ENM world. In this workshop we'll talk about types of ENM, kitchen table and parallel polyamory, boundary and expectation setting, communication techniques and plans, jealousy and conflict resolution techniques, and managing expectations.
